I'm new to trials, and unfortunatly i'm also broke. Right now i own a pretty nice Fuji Mountainbike. I was wondering if I would be able to learn things like back wheel hops and pedel kicks on a mountain bike? Has anyone else learned on a mountain bike?

Yeah there is a bunch of threads on this but yes you can learn the basics on that bike. You might be breaking some parts if you get into big moves. Welcome to the sport.:wavey

learn to track stand, practise some skinnies, learn to roll onto things that are like maybe 2 feet high, then maybe roll off of them, practise hopping up stairs with 2 tires on the ground... pracitse pivoting...
if u want to know how to do those, just ask :)
and yeah!, welcome

You can learn and master the basics on a mountainbike. It's what I'm doing :) If you feel that you really like trials and want a good bike to make you better, then you can buy a trials-specific frame.

i learn on a hardtai with front suspention...i found that it was much easier to do certain stuff after i got a rigid fork. so maybe that will help. and also after i cracked the frame for my old mountain bike i bought the Norco p2. its like half trials and half street. if i like doing both and not exclusively one u should check out "Urban" bikes. Good luck!~

yep you can learn on that. the biggest limiting factor is going to be the brakes. why oh why can't they use better brakes on those bikes.

You could always improve your brakes if they aren't up to par. Avid lever/calipers and some good cabling would do the job well, I'm sure. And add in a brake booster if you have frame flex.
