View Full Version : Possible techniques on a FS MTB?

Due to a bet I need to learn to do some trial moves on my full suspension mountain bike. 6" suspension and the works.
So what techniques do you think I could actually learn to master on such a bike?
Bunny hops, pedal kicks and such I know is possible. But what more advanced moves are possible to do? Is everything possible or will I be physically limited to certain moves or is it actually possible to do everything on this kind of bike?
Odd question, I know, but I need to win this bet... :)

Still I will always be better at English than you. Don't know what that has to do with it though...
Now, leave this thread to those who wants to answer to it in a serious way, please...

I will be seriously impressed with a video of you pedal kicking on a 6" dualie... when I think about the motion even of just hopping static on rear wheel, it seems that suspension will absorb all of your motion... you'll die after 1 hop.

Pivots are do-able on a FS mtb. So are manuals and nose wheelies, but those are more street style.

I haven't done it, I can't even do that on a trial-bike. But I know a trials-rider who borrowed my bike and did that. It works. But it's hard according to him. :)
The suspension on my bike is quite good for this as the rear wheel is forced to go back first in its stroke and then up. So the rear suspension isn't working very well when hopping on the rear wheel. (Though I think it's killing the pivots...)
By pivots I suppose people mean turning your bike with only one wheel on the ground, right? I.e. turning 180 on the frontwheel etc. That I can do on flat land now... :) As well as side-hoping down stairs. Doing drops from standing still, getting onto benches and so on. Not very trialish perhaps, but still it's something.
BTW, the bike only weighs about 15kg so it's not that heavy! ;)
Bet most of your bikes weigh a lot less than 10kg... :)

I can pedal kick my rm7. it's hard as fuck and it doesn't hardly even go far enough to keep me balanced on the rear wheel. 7 inches of really fucking squishing suspension.
