To me, its not the urban crashes, its the natural crap with all kinds of wierd holes for you foot to fall in.

I nailed my head on a log the other day when I lost my footing during a backwards bail off of a log pile. Def. glad I had a helmate on since I had a mega headache for the rest of the day and cracked my helmate. That said, I almost never wear it when Im riding urban. As you say though, personal preference. No need for anyone else (other then maybe parents?) to mandate that kind of thing. Tacoma definitely needs to repeal its helmate law.

I am a physical therapist who has worked with brain injured people. Trust me, it isn't that hard to get hurt, if you land just right. Moreover, younger kids look up to you, one day someone is going to get hurt, it happens all the time.

Only once have I hit my head, I split the helmet before I could even react.
