hey guys,
i finally grew some balls and was doing some 5 foot drops... granted my landings were far from perfect as i am still not use to this echo control and i am not really that good yet.
but i only weigh 130 pounds, how can the rim bend so easely? anyways, my question is, is it worthit for me to take the rim to the shop to get fixed? or should i get a diiferent rim, by the way, i got my control with the echo rims.
how much should they charge to true a rim at the LBS? and if you recomend the purchase of a new rear rim, which one should i consider?
thanks guys.

It depends on how bad the rim is out of true...or is it flat spotted? If it's flat spotted ...dont bother bringing it anyplace ...it's done. If you have no experience trueing wheel's then have someone else do it. my suggestion would be to buy an alex dx32 and get rid of that echmo rim...havnt heard anything good about them.
And if your bending rims doing 5' drop's at 130 lbs...... you need to go back to 4' drops and learn how to do them smooth before you tackle anything bigger

It depends on how bad the flat spot is. You can actually make it semi-round again. You should always watch your spoke tention as loose spokes = rim death

well, ill take it to the local bikeshop and see if they can do anything to save the rim... if not, ill have to invest in a new rim and rebuild the wheel.... GRRRRR !!!
this sucks... im flat broke, but need to ride once daily to stay sane.

so I guess its time for a 32 or a TRYALL rim... now, with these echo rims, i have to push my HS33s way in for them to reach the rim, so, i may go with a tryall wide rim eventhough they are more expensive, but they are wider, and lighter then the DX32s.
any suggestions? oh, and how much should a rebuild cost me at the local bike shop, and while i am at it... should i replace the damn echo hub? or should that hub work for me for a long time?
i dont want to pay money to rebuild the wheel with a shitty hub if i will have to replace it in no time...
anymore advice is greatly appreciated.
thanks so far guys.

In terms of the long run you should have someone teach you to true wheels. Either buy (or make) a truing stand and save yourself TONS of money in the long term.
Trials really isnt all that hard on wheels (compared to say BMX, street, park, DH, etc.) We just have problems cause we are constantly trying to run super light parts.

I'd go with a dx... cheeper stronger holds a grind better and you can drill it out if need be.. and basically a fixed hub is a fixed hub.. and a wheel build shouldnt cost much..

ok, so there is no real need to upgrade my echo fixed hub to a king or something of the sort?
the echo hub should last me a good while?

echo fixed is fine and it should last you untill the bearings go ... keep shit clean and greased and it will last

ok, well, that is good news that at least i dont need a new hub for now... now as far as the rim is concerned, should i just order a new DX32/TRYALL or still give fixing the ECHO rim a shot?
granted my landings were far from smooth, but seriously, im 130 pounds, feather weight at 5 feet. hmmmm, makes you think...

loose straight gauge spokies. You do need to learn to true wheels though, then you can re-tension machine built ones and make even cheap wheels work.
A good, tard looking bike mechanic can true up your wheel flat spot and all.
nevermind
