Just finished designing a new type of chain tensioner. . .

The body is 0.500 inch CNC'd polycarbonate (Lexan) so it's super impact resistant, and light (only 50 grams with the shimano roller, 85 for the MRP).

The tensioner runs on the INSIDE of the Der Hanger so its well outta the way.
You will need a couple of cassette spacers (bout 7mm worth) to run it. . .
All hardware is stainless steel (and a little bit of brass) so it will never rust.

Adjustable chainline via a 3mm allen screw, and the pulley (3 options MRP, Shimano, or custom) spins on sealed cartridge bearings.

These things are fully rebuildable and interchangable, spare parts available, and 3 levels of bearings to choose from (chinese, ABEC7, or Ceramic).

Colors so far are red, blue, green, black, clear and frosty (bead blasted). Tested (naturals, street, comps, skatepark, etc) and redesigned for many months.

What do you think??

yup, its definately a tensioner alright.

how much you figure you'd ask for something like this, just out of curiosity...?

That doesn't look bad man. I am making one right now same idea, just with alluminum.

One question though, is it sitting straight...from the one photo it looks kind of sucked in at an angle because of the chain. But I can't see it from behind so I dont know, just how it looked from that one photo.

I suggest that you have the tensioner push up on the chain rather than down. Other than that it looks good.

the tensioner seats up flat against your der hanger so it's as straight as the hanger is. Mine is pretty straight. . .more less
Asking 50 cad fo them

I have tried running the chain both ways on the roller, under works better for my trials gear, and over better for harder gears. depending on how long you run your chain. . .

that looks awesome!

:werd: I can't agree more

A set up with that and a Lexan bashring and anything else Lexan (like the pedals atomlab made a while ago) would look so good..

Justin, I hope you didn't mind me lending the tensioner you gave me to Kevin. I figured it would get more exposure if Kevin was running it :)

BTW, I lost your number, could you PM me with it. Thanks.

PS we should plan a ride after CPTA. Are you coming to CPTA?

hey. Thx all, I was expecting to get ripped a new one on this board. . .
Ally, I don't mind at all, Kevin is somewhat of a ninja compared to us so he will test it very good long time! Just wish that I had given you one of my new ones with an ultra-mega-hyper paint job :o
Tested my lexan bash for the first time yesterday, holy its sooo much stronger than my previous aluminum one. Upping 3 feet straight to bash (steel handrail) and it barely left a scratch. I'll post pics soon. . .
