anyone ever purchased a frame/bike/anything from a international private seller? i'm considering doing so from australia but i'm wondering what kind of import charges there would be on top of the actual shipping costs. can anyone help me out?

if you can get the approximate weight and dimensions of the frame's package, plus the address its coming from, you can find out the approximate shipping price from most shippers off their websites. I know with some shippers all the customs and surcharges are part of the shipping cost.

hope that helps a little

Umm, i dont think that customs and surcharges can be listed. It just happens if they find out whats in the package. Whenever i ship something it sometimes goes through good then sometmes it gets held up.

I don't think you should get charged for buying a used or second hand item. The import duties are simply charged because your country can't collect sales tax on the item if you buy it OS. There are generally no sales taxes on second hand stuff anyway. You should be fine on the import duties.

Yeah I'm good mates with him.. he was here not long ago. He's in queensland if that makes any difference. Joel is right about the imports duties etc i think..
