i used to have a magura marta SL front brake with headtube friendly housing, it chipped the paint a bit, that's about all. Now they are gone, wasted and i use my 2002 hayes hfx MAG that was on my dirt jump bike. The cable housing however worn the alu of my headtube of my dirtbike. so i'm looking for some thick transparent foil, kinda like those lizard skin carbon stickers to protect my headtube from the grinding of the cable housing. what should i use? any ideas.......

condom, yes, good suggestion.

got to a moto shop, they sell these sheets of 3m stickering. they make all kinds of it, carbon, clear, whatever. it's basically blanks of what they use for the sticker kits for the plastic on a dirt bike. cut it out to whatever shape and size you want and put it on with a hair drier. ive done this with dh bikes before and it works very well.

Maybe this is too ghetto, but I just use layered clear duct tape. That is protection from a regular plastic hose though. So maybe void my suggestion. I just like being heard sometimes.

keep in mind that you only want to tape the section that is rubbing. I'm not sure if trials is hard enough on brakes to heat up, but in dh you don't want the lines heating up with all the constant pressure change in your brakes. Its sounds anal but I've actually felt the difference. so only tape what needs to be. The sticker idea is a good one, should be more than strong enough after a couple wraps.

cant you just route it so that it doesnt rub?

you have to drill a hole and bolt on an adapter that they make special so it dosent rub. you just drill right into the head tube where it rubs and then you have to tap the hole with threds but you dont want it to strip out so go slow and pour water over it. and then just bold on the plate and your done. super easy..
