Hey everyone,

i'm intending to get the NEW Koxx Try All Square Tapered, Front freewheel cranks

After through 'extensive' research in obsvervedtrials forums about the cranks, mostly i've found is "get the Bonz or "get Middleburns" :dunno: i don't have the 'extra' money, but i would if i could...

so...mostly what people said about em is....the older models snap, and the Threading gets threaded, and the newer model is a MUCH better version apparantley?

so...here's what i want to know..
a)is the picture here the newer model?
b)do the tapers get rounded easily? (cause my shitmano's and an Onza has):ugh:

go isis, you will regret going square, escpecially if you have a ffw

there are almost no choices out there for good square bottom brackets.

I just got a set - the threads were a little too tall, so some hand sanding with 400 grit for like 10 minutes got my track cog on OK. Also, since there's no steel insert, you're putting your pedal directly into aluminum. So...I'd suggest using a torque wrench (I don't remember the spec, just used number off a similar pair of cranks on my MTB) when installing the cranks, pedals, etc. So far so good, they feel better than my hussefelts did, although it's probably just that I get better chain tension with 18-16 than I did with 22-19. Dunno how they'll hold up, but they look good so far. One last thing - make sure to use a pedal washer.

I love mine. No problems to mention. Every company will have some defects along the way, something to keep in mind.

Definately go ISIS though.

the picture yo uahve is of the older ones. ive had two sets, sold my first set with my bike. i have never heard of a set actually breaking. i think the older try-alls had pedal problems (ive had two sets, just keep the pedals tight and youre fine) , and of course the cog threads were a little too large so you had to sand them down, no biggie.

they are ok i guess, nothing special.
Good luck trying to get the arm fully on the BB, i used brutal hammer force and they still dont go 100% in.

Don just go ISIS. consider it a worthwhile investment!!

If you want middleburns, speak to peace.. I don't know how much Tryall cranks are but I'd pay a bit more for RS7s

Thanks soo much for the help guys!

I may consider in going for ISIS instead, so there's less chances of killing the Taper and BB too (even though my cheap $20aus FSA replica BB is holding up well)

but yeah, so far the prices that i know of for these cranks are around $200aus, i'd go for the Middleburns...but i don't believe they do Front Freewheel? Peace help me out:dunno:

But yeah, the reason why i'm going for this setup is because, i want to achieve high amounts of engagement points, while getting some new cranks myself so yeah:Sonic:

middleburn only comes in its own splined interface type i thinks.

No FFW option for Middleburn.

But they do come in square and ISIS :)

Just for the records, here are a few pics of the latest generation of TryAll cranks. the first pic posted in this thread by Donkay are the older generation cranks. the link to the picture from the TryAll site posted by ctfalconk are a newer generation that was introduced at the end of last year, before the latest, current version was commercialized... the latest ones are beefier and stiffer...

Dean, as i had mentioned earlier

But yeah, the reason why i'm going for this setup is because, i want to achieve high amounts of ENGAGEMENT POINTS, while getting some new cranks myself so yeahGetting middleburns alone won't get me higher amounts of engagement points as they don't accept freewheels but spiders:werd:

And thanks for the picture there Willbed and letting us know that there is a NEWER version that i did not know of. Either way, i may go for the ones that 'ctfalconk' had posted or the current ones:x: i'm hoping they'll do great as noone had mentioned about their bad performances yet

those new ones are the ones i have
i havent had any problems with them
there was no need to sand down the threads for the freewheel it went on smoothly
my pedal has come lose a few times but no strip, i just tighten them and now they're fine
