I am looking to replace my current cranks, bb, bashring etc. to save weight. I am currently running profile racing cranks and bb. They are virtually unbreakable and stiff as hell, but extremely heavy. I weigh about 150lbs and I don't really break anything except for aluminum freehub bodies and the ocassional der. hanger.

I am looking for the most cost effective recommendations on cranks, bb, and bashring to accomodate a 22t front ring. I don't want to use ffw cranks, because I sometimes ride for a while to get to where I want to do my trialsin, and I don't want to lose my top end gear.

Any info would be appreciated.

bonz cranks are excellent. everyone that i have heard uses them loves them. theyve got a good warranty on tehm as well.

middleburn as well - both the bonz and middleburn come in square and isis versions and are a one piece spider/bash which a 5-bolt compact chainring bolts onto. I have the middleburns which are available with a 22t or a 20t and I really dig them. Bonz seem good too though.

Just purchased some Bonz. SO far so good. Both middleburn and Bonz are expensive. Depends what you mean by cost effective, cheap or worth it? Whatever, both are excellent choices, as has already been mentioned, one piece spider/bash. Bonz look nice too.

you could get a set of ffw cranks and then use a track cog. the new zoo or echo cranks are both around 150 and in isis drive. i have yet to bend the zoo cranks with isis drive. other than that the only set of cranks i havent bent are the profiles.

get a good freeride BB in 118mm length from raceface or FSA, or if youre sure you will be upgrading frames in the future, go ahead and get a 128mm BB from try-all,raceface,or FSA. i recommend the try-all.

Not the prettiest, but easily the best.

I'm 185lbs, not very smooth, and haven't broken My Burns in 2 years.

I second the 'burns, but they may be too expensive. Good cranks are well worth the money.
