View Full Version : complete 2004/2005 xtp?
i really really really really really want a cbr600f4i. so ill let my xtp go if i can.
its probably worth a lot of money, for instance:
wheels: $790
headset: $80
frame: ???
cranks/bb: $350 .
bar/stem: $100
brakes: $350
tires: $100
fork: $150
pedals:$50
chain/tensioner: $50
all that is at least $2000, not including the frame, which as most know, has a large dent in the down tube.
want complete specs?
offers?
ugh you said complete, I suck.

this is an excellent bike, probably one of the best i have ever ridden. ask 1 of any ftc riders or anyone who rode it at koxxdays, they will probably feel the same.
everything has less than 10 hours of riding on it. i have ground the rim once, its about ready for a new one probably.
as for the dent...yeah. it is noticeable. However, the strength of the frame hasnt been compromised, but the dent is ugly.but with a decent downtube guard you'd probably never have worry about it. other than that it has some scratches from being trailered at koxxdays.
it will come with the new try-all brake, a kmc kool chain and a short cage derailleur, a steel
king kog, and anything else i have that you want.
i will separate it if i get enough interest.
If you want to go through Ebay/paypal for a secure transaction, i can do that.
the best offer gets it.
oh yeah, parts list for anyone whos interested

If you get a CBR, i hope it wouldnt be your first bike, otherwise you are just throwing your money away.

Maybe he's not a honda fan. Fuck that though, they look nice at least. I've never heard about how much maintenance they need. My suggestion is to at least be open to different kinds of bikes and be sure to look around. Get an older one that you can beat around and learn on first, it's cheaper that way.
ive raced/ridden dirtbikes for the last 12 years, i know how to ride a bike. 2005 cbr it is :momaru:

Hey Elan,
just gotta give ya my 2 cents cause i'd feel odd if i didn't:
regarding streetbikes........ not to knock you at all cause if you can ride trials i'm sure you've got your shit together......however, dirtbikes in no way compare to streetbikes. kx250, cr's they all have kick for sure and basically won't let you ride with the front wheel on the ground, but the truth of it is, you can always put your foot down. With 450 pound plus streetbike you can put your foot down but if the bike is leaned more than 20 or 30 degrees you probably aren't gonna save it. So here's my suggestion, assume you are going to drop your first bike at least once. If you want a cbr600 go for it, but buy an old one man, that way you can do all the maintenance yourself and if you fuck it up, you can then take it to the wrench and let them have a go at it. A guy i ride with just dropped his 04 gsxr600 at about 5 km/hr and did about 800 bux worth of damage. every bit of damage was only PLASTIC. consider the costs when you bend engine casings, gasket edges, forks bent etc. Doesn't really even come close to pedal bike prices. By the way how tall are you? Personally i think busa's are stupid because they're built for straight line speed, and my favorite part of riding is dragging pegs, but if you're tall you might want to consider it, cause if you're cramped on the cbr then you won't want to be on it for longer than about 45 mins at a time. which would suck. frame sliders are a must.... r6's are light in the front end coming out of corners under gas, and a bit twitchy, but i would consider them for sure. honestly the cbr is your best bet if you're sure you want a crotch rocket, cause they're the most tame. but seriously dude, consider an old crotch rocket, ninja's are pretty cheap. I have an '84 cb750sc which is a Nighthawk S, you should check that bike out for sure, they're a bit hard to find but becoming a bit of a legend, shaft drive which is SUPER smooth, hydraullic clutch, shortened stroke, wider bore inline 4, standard/sport seating position which means your feet are not in contact with your ass, and you can ride on the highway for like 8 hours no problem. still keeps up with the crotch rockets. and because it's old i get to spend emotionally charged hours of talking to it while i work on it. in the process i have learned a shit load about the innerworkings of the engine. rebuilt a few clutches and whatnot gonna do valves and cam chain tensioner next year. if i had a new rocket i would have never fooled around as much. so anyways man i'm sure you'll love whatever you get, oh yeah one last thing just because i'd feel bad if i never said this: when you ride pretend you're invisible. make a game out of never letting yourself get into any position where you could be hit. take your mirrors off or at least don't get used to them, cause you should be turning your head all the way around every time you make a move or stop. you should practice some serious power skids in a parking lot and some hard hard hard hard braking to the point that the rear wheel is lifting off the ground. only reason i say this is because i don't think a bike with a steering stabilizer and no riser bars would be the best bike to really throw around.....anyways man my next one is going to be a 929rr i am a HUGE honda fan. so good luck with it.....i'm sure you'll be addicted to whatever you end up with. just remember though. it's a no mistakes game. dab=season ending injury. peace.

I have to 2nd the invisible thing. I've only ridden this past summer/fall and I've already had at least one close call (car pulled out right in front of me when I was doing around 25-30mph). You have to constantly be on the lookout for people waiting to pull out from stop lights, intersections, gas stations, etc.

Fuck the reviews Elan. All the 600s are so close it doesnt matter. Those reviewers are riding the bikes to the edge on the track. When it comes down on a decision, i would do it on what looks better to you, and what fits you better when you´re on it. I had a 2000 R6 and I was pretty much loved that bike. I would go the used route. You get raped too badly buying a new bike...its not worth it to me. Those Japanese bikes are bulletproof, so you dont have to worry too much about getting a used one, just make sure it hasnt been raced.
If you have a chance, i would highly recommend taking a track day or two, possibly a trackschool if you can afford it.
The last thing i have to say is that each time you lay down your bike its gonna cost 1 XTP frame. I just mean a little bit.
I think I want your pedals.

this is funny - all these dudes selling trials bikes to get streetbikes, and all the money I have for trials shit (and everything else) is because i sold my streetbike. Truth is, I'm now one of those people that provides the "I almost died" stories that all your friends tell you when you tell them you're getting a bike. Damn fun, just keep your eyes up whenever you're in traffic.

Plus I have about six to ten almost died stories...mostly from the large population of fuzzy creatures that like to party in the road here ... duc 748 + 85-90mph on backroad + 6 to 8 deer doing the macarena in the street = Death

I havn't rolled moto since '95 when I spilled in a ditch and broke my coller bone. Bad technique on an off camber corner. Lame.
I test rode a TLR1000,... 'bout shit my pants. First gear 70mph,... just bliped the frikin thing,... and I thought,.. "What the hell are the other five gears for!!??"
I agree with the peg grindin. That's why I'd go for a TL, SV, or Duc,.. anything with the 90deg V-twin for uber torque,... wheelie fun yay!
but it's been years, I'm going to get back into it on my late Uncle's '68 Honda Scrambler,.. flat bar it and maybe put a solo cafe saddle on it. Old skool fun.

Fort collins got around 2 inches, didn't last till 11 am- all melted. I don't know what denver got but I was there the next day, nothing anywhere. In new jersey it takes 5 months to melt 1" of snow.

because a new try-all/hope disc is worth $230, a new rear hs-33 cant be had for less than $100, and avid mechs are like $90 a side.
