Sounds like a good idea....

I remember there being an ad where they did a test in MBA a few years back when they were prototyped. They had a picture of an intense uzzi slamming the rear wheel into a sharp brick ledge and not doing anything. They said when they were done with the test there were no pinchflats, but the inside of the tire looked like "it was beaten with a balpien(sp?) hammer." tSaid the tire wasnt to hard to get on or off either.
Hmm....might be the next thing???? Who knows...intresting to say the least...
I honestly don't like the amount of material sticking towards the outside, I mean pinch flats will probably be reduced but if you're running low pressure you have that inch or two bump that'll probably get in the way.
I'm happy with my Alex DX32 and Comp 24.1 combo. I've been running the same tube for the past four months without any pinch flat. With my Rhyno Lite in the rear, I was changing the tube at least bi-weekly. It was ridiculous.

looks interesting. Wonder what the weight is. I notice that they mention saving rotational weight by being able to run a lighter tire, but make no mention of saving weight with the rim. I assume it would be heavy. Still, looks like its worth a try.

Yeah, that rim is awesome. For the few bikes that can run a rear disc..

i knew some people that tried them for dh. they had soooooo much fun getting stiff casing dh tires on and off. never from a pinch but we have thorns and a sharp rock will still gash your tire. they said it wasnt worth it and never bothered running them again. the rim is pretty much obsolete now that tubeless works. no tube, no pinch... and over a pound lighter per wheel than the THE jive.

your tire would still fold like a motherfucker if you run a light tire.
It would also be annoying to backhop/preload or land from a drop and feel how you hit the inner rim.

Lol, which pretty much excludes everyone except those with a Brisa or Megamo. Unless there are disc mounts on XTPs that i have never noticed...
