I think i saw on the koxx page a few days ago that fontainebleau (climbing spot), is close to the paradise of natural trials used at koxx days.

If so i might go there this summer because i then might be able to get some friends to join me. What i then whant to ask some of the good people who was there at koxx days, and climb (if you excist). Is it far away from Paris? Is it easy to get there without a car (both places)? Train bus etc. No problems bringing bikes on public transport?

Joel (Tomac on here) is your man I believe, he spent a fair amount of time in France recently and he likes bouldering and long walks on the beach.

Fontainebleau is about 28km (or 17 miles) away from Buthiers.

Buthiers is on the western side of the forest of Fontainebleau, about 30kms from the Fontainebleau region on the eastern side of the forest. Catch the SNCF train from Gare de Lyon in Paris, going to Fontainebleau. The Map 2417-OT from the Institute Geographique National (IGN) shop off the Champs Elysee (rue de Boetie) is what you'll need, it's an excellent and very detailed map showing all the tracks you can take and it's what all the bouldering sites refer to. You can get off at Melun or Font. The blocs (boulders) are a fair walk from the towns, I took my bike (big wheels, seat, gears) on the train and rode from the station. About a 30 minute ride to my favourite boulders from Melun. Fontainebleau also has an incredible chateau, very cool.

anyway, I would suggest that you go to Buthiers to ride (get off the RER D line at Malesherbes and ride to the southeast over the river to Buthiers, the most bizarre little town given the preponderance of rocks) and Fontainebleau to boulder.

PM me for me info if you like.

Thanks i`ll start digging for some maps, PM going your way tomac if i have any questions.

This might be just what i need, tired of trials right now. This trip could give me inspiration...if not i will climb boulders instead. And with Paris so close this cant go wrong ;)
