Hey all,

Got a call yesterday from a guy looking for one (or a couple) trials riders to do demo in southern Texas. Here is note he sent to me...... if your up for free hotel sun/fun on Padre Island...... damn, wish it could be me! Pull off a good job and maybe we can talk them into hosting a killer competition next year!

As written to me to pass on:
"Hey everyone, my name is Jorge, I'm a rider from down in Brownsville looking
to bring some trials riders down to South Padre Island on the weekend of May
17th to do a demo.
I help organize a tour called the Pedal to Padre that ends up at South Padre
Island. The ride has doubled in size every year with an expected 1200 rider
turn out this year. We have great sponsors, including the Island tourist
bureau, who are very motivated to help promote the event. An almost equal
amount of people turn out at the end of the ride just to check things out
and pick up family and friends. Our end point is at Louise Back Yard, a
multi deck complex that is usually host to a bunch of party going spring
breakers. A band, food and all that stuff will be there.
I have been around trials competitions and demos in the past and know of
their crowd going popularity. It would be great to see a few of you guys
come down and do a demo for the event. Although we can't offer a fully paid
trip, room and board expenses are not out of the question as is some gas
compensation. I am trying to contact any willing group within the state.
The area is great that time of year and the Island and Brownsville offer a
ton of areas to ride. It is a perfect chance to come down at a relative
bargain. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please email me

off the top of my head, chris, stan, and kamil..

Tim, if you still have Buddy Vargas' #, you should call him up. He lives about 30 mins from Padre.

Sorry Tim, I don't have it. I haven't ridden with him in 2-3 years. The only person in Dallas who might have it is Mark Nelson. PM Edge.. he might have contact info for Mark.

I tried the last # I had 4 Buddy and it's dead....

Any of you guys that can ride Expert could do this. They aren't lookin' 4 pros; 3-4 guys doing a jam session style demo on some things THEY set up would work. Make sure THEY do a good trials area. Throw in some freestyle moves, man the crowd would eat it up.

Hey Tim.....long time!
Yeah, Lajitas was bought by a rich dot commer guy from Austin and then developed. Ultra expensive jet set kinda place now. Lajitas was like the 2nd oldest comp in the country to have trials. Remember the trials pit behind the ghost town?
Locals in the area used to save big things for obstacles all year and bring out lawn chairs and watch and yell......hell they gave out $900 every year for the Pro and Exp. trials payout......a sad demise to a fun time in a cool part of Texas. My wife and I go to Terlingua every year in Feb. now.
