Poo! I have to work that weekend.
Bently has really went out of his way to create that web site for the event,
he has my total respect!:bigthumb:
By posting the event now you should have plenty of time to pull riders, I'm sure you have a good turn out.

Bwah.. that's funny. That's one of the lamest sites I've ever done! It's just there to get the info out.
I think you should NOT work that weekend and come to WI. I heard tanner was bringing multiple cases of Stephen's Point's finest frosty beverage...

HA! Nobody ever remembers to pre-reg! At least nobody has so far..
Everything is full speed ahead. I haven't been to the property yet, but I talked to the owner and everything is pretty much like it was last year. Peter Hellenbrand and I will get in there later this month and clear out some sections and we'll all have a good time.
I think everybody who attended last year had a blast.
Oh, one difference... No trophies this year. I'm way too busy to make them. Instead we'll have swag from Webcyclery and possibly some other stuff.
And there should be plent of POINT BEER. Right tanner? PLENTY. :)
And as far as I know the steak fry is still on. Please remember to bring a small donation for Ed PoleHeber, the moto guy who buys all all the steak and cooks it all (on his own dime...) I need to call him and confirm that he's still doing it just to make sure..

So will there be any way to ride the mototrials and biketrials this year?

So here's my lowdown at the moment. We are gearing up for a great event this year, I look forward to seeing everyone (and I mean everyone, drag your friends who only sorta ride out of the woodwork) there. Bent and I are heading up there in a little while to find some creative lines, and we are lining up some swag. I'll try and personally ride each Beg, Spt, and Exp line to make sure I can't clean them, and I'll get Bent to look at the Pro lines and make sure they make him want to go back to his wife and 37+ kids.
Pat, we should talk to figure out the moto vs. bike thing, it would be a shame if you only had to win one instead of both. We'll try to make things work, but it may be tricky. Perhaps you could do a section on your Sherco, then just shut off the engine and do it again...
I think we should also work out a set night for a Madison ride again as a few (or everyone who went) riders seemed to enjoy that last time.
Again I look foraward to a great event, we'll keep you posted and let us know what else we can do.

So will there be any way to ride the mototrials and biketrials this year?
I don't really see a good way to work it out.. Moto starts at 11 on Saturday and takes pretty much the whole day. Even if we waited and started later it would put biketrial finish pretty late, and that screws things up with the goofing off and eating on Saturday night, you know?
And starting biketrial earlier doesn't work well (for a number of reasons).
C'mon, you've ridden b-boo a million times. Skip the Sherco and ride the Uni this time!

Ryan, here are a few thoughts about making the trip. Yeah, its a long way to travel and will cost a bit with gas prices what they are. Can you share at least part of the trip with Rudy? Could you con a friend who thinks they'd like to ride trials into coming out for their first comp (and then share the driving and gas bill)?
Look at what you get out of the trip, two good days of competing, steak, beer, a group ride in Madison (lead by someone who might know a thing or two about the place), comradery with other riders and moto guys, and just a laid back fun time. Sure at the end of the weekend you'll be dead tired from driving and riding and riding and driving, but when you look back I'm betting it will be worth it. You could stay home, work on the house, go shopping and all or come out for one of the few Midwest comps proving that Colorado and the coasts aren't the only places to ride.
As long as you keep positive I'm sure it will be a good time. If you get all negative and just think what the cost is (imagine a dollar per dab ratio) it will suck and not be worth it. But if you come on down for a good time we'll be there to have one.

Last year was a ton of fun. I'm all up for the Madison ride. I'm thinking of showing up on Friday night instead of early Sat. morning. How about a Friday night Madison ride? Hopfully no one would break anything too severe. Then after the comp on Sat, could just hang out relax and drink. Any thoughts??

Here’s another up date on the comp (you’d think I’m trying to keep this post fresh so more folks see it or something). Went up to the land last night to do some preliminary planning. Talked to the land owner Jim about a couple issues and things are looking good. The way I see it we will have 6 sections each day, for twelve total (no just running them backwards the second day) and we will essentially not be sharing any sections with the moto guys to avoid bottlenecks and any other problems. That means a lot of section building for me so I’ll be up there a bit between now and then, so everyone show up to see it. Here’s an idea of what to expect, good technical stuff out in the woods that will make you think. Some of the sections will be near or share a little from the past years but I feel really creative this time so it will be different routes and lots of new courses. Depending on the weather I wouldn’t ride in your prettiest clothes either, if we don’t have a drought for a month there will be mud to contend with in a couple spots. Also logs will be playing a bigger role so get out and work on your balance on round things. Don’t expect too much death defying action, but there will be plenty of challenges for all levels.
It looks like we’ve got some schwag lined up from a couple sources (hit you’ve probably bought parts/bikes from these guys) as well as whatever random thing is can come up with. As a blatant bribe, this distance traveled may figure in to what you walk away with, so if you are debating showing up here is another reason.
Hopefully this weekend I’ll have the first six sections done, the only bad part for me is I’m not pre-riding anything so I can compete, but there is plenty of other stuff to ride on there.

Pat,
Will you be around next Sunday? That would probably be the best time to ride for me. As for which day to ride, I can't say yet. I have built half the sections and I think they are all really good (interesting and challenging). Bentley and I will build the other half in a bit and help Jim clear out some moto stuff. Hopefully then we'll figure out what sections he's going to run what day and we can plan our sections around that. I'd like good diversity on each day. I'll do everything I can to make sure we all have a great time, but seriously these sections are great, look at some of the Les Gets qualifying videos, mine have a similar style (not quite as big though).
I think for the wheelie contest you should use your uni. Oh, and tell your day I used the word "dewey" last night, he should like that.

Couple FYI for any still braving the price of gas to come to baraboo
1. Steak fry saturday will be $5.00. This is not a donation, it's required. In the past ONE guy shouldered the burden of buying and cooking ALL that food! It makes total sense for him to charge $5.00. I'll be collecting this money on Saturday afternoon.
2. Helmets are required for any riding, anytime, anywhere. Just so ya know.
We've got 8 sections lined up for Saturday at this point. And completely different sections for Sunday....
