Sam and I are going to have a Fun ride on Sunday March 20th
We've got about 10- 15 sections already set up. Lot's of logs and other nat type stuff, he's also got rocks and big stadum type stuff. there is more then enough riding for all skills from just starting out through crazy pro lines from sams moto days. theres enough riding to keep you happy for days.

The Ride will be at Sams house, it's about 15 mins north of warsaw just off of Sr 15
Directions: Take SR 15 to SR 6 go east To first dirt road (Cr 123) go South less that a mile. Sams Adress is: 72838 CR 123 New Paris, In 46553. He's the last house on the left.

Drive times are: Chicago: 2:30 (good traffic) Detroit: 4:00 Indi: 2:30 Lafayette: 2:45.

Sam says if any body wants to crash in his house there more then welcome to. theres also lots of room for tents/ campers.

This will just be a fun group ride, we've already got a few guys plaining on coming out. So we'd love to have more!

Let me or Sam know if you've got any questions or anything.

Should be Fun!

Well, with the people who have shown interest and the local riders already, we are at like 10 riders!
We will have taped off sections maybe up to 10 total, with group checking.
We are even going to have plaques for awards!
Sorry but this will be a Sunday comp. Isaac and I have to work on Saturday morning.
I have a full sized basement that is heated and dedicated to trials with a repair room for bikes, anyone who would like to show up on Saturday afternoon is welcomed to crash out. We have no kids just dogs, so you will have to be prepared to deal with these friendly four legged beast.
There is going to be no entry fee for this pre-season mini comp, but If you would like to donate a bag of chips or a 6 pack of cheap Wal-mart cola it would be much appreciated. There will be a camp fire and I will supply some bad tasting, cheap hot dogs, that you can burn on the stick!
Also, helmets are required so bring your skid lid! And there will be some Unicyclist, so if you have one bring it.
Remember, rain or snow the get together still happens!

Yeah I should be able to make this after I return from MD. Are you guys coming out tomorrow to Purdue if it doesn't snow?

sammy

Hey Roman! I sure hope you can make it to are pre-season opener.

I'm not sure yet about tomorrow, I'll have to check with Isaac. I do know that If we drive 2.5 hours down we would want to ride Rocks at the BadLands. You must remember, thats like Disney Land for us we just dont have piles of boulders laying around like that in Northern Indiana.

Does anyone ever hear from Brent Mullens, he was evidently the back bone of bike trials a few years ago, is he aware of the buzz once again in the midwest trials seen?

Well you guys can ride there with Duncan tomorrow as I have a few meetings to attend. However, if you decide to swing by to Purdue for an Urban ride that be great.

i dunno, with all of this snow and cold weather today the badlands might be kinda shitty riding conditions down there. not saying its not a possibility..

sammy
03-10-2005, 01:32 PM
Sorry, but I'm going to pass on tomorrows ride, I was gone three weeks just getting home yesterday mid morning and then riding three hours with Isaac, in which I have damaged my big toe!

Next week I'll be making the trip to the BadLands for sure, I'll bring my moto to try out some rock riding.

sam

ilneff
03-12-2005, 12:20 PM
morning probably!
Any time you want to show is probably okay.
I think Sam and I are thinking all day....
but I would think rinding will offically kick off about noon.
Sam?

sammy

Ben,

Will kick off the comp at noon, but show up any time you like.
I'm going to have 3 classes= Expert, sport, novice. The expert class is going to be very tuff (with Mr.Dunncan in mind), not dangerous with 10' drops, but just technical as you can imagine.
Sport will be no song and dance either, but with some smart strato dabs doable!
Novice will be pretty much rolling styled sections.
Once again, I'm laying out technical lines, tight with skinny's, I'm not sure how many of you have experienced Elm trees with no bark and a little moisture= TUFF!

I'm also going to have a Moto available for anyone who would like to experience moto-trials, I'll be glad to give a basic run down on this similar sport and show what novice sections would be like and some fundementals.

The weather shows a increase in temps by next weekend, we will have two camp fires going one to feed at and the other will be a burn barrel back by a cluster of sections that you can hug up to.

One thing I do ask is, bring spare parts so we can keep everybody riding, for me it seems like I can not even look at my bike with out breaking a part anymore.:dunno:

Also, pictures we need pictures of the seasons opener to post on these web sites to show that trials is kicken in the Midwest!

So far we have =6 Experts
3 sports
1 novice
3 uni's

=13 so far, not bad for a last minute fun trial!:bigthumb:

sammy
03-12-2005, 07:28 PM
BenR.

No cost! This is a fun trial/jam session, pre-season warm up!
There will be sections and you get a score card, top three finnishers go home with
awards.

See ya there!

03-13-2005, 07:24 AM

By next weekend middel 40's and partly sunny.

Sam and I rode for a few hours today.
We looked at a few sections, Sams going to set them all up this last part of the week.
but more importantly..... THE SNOW IS GONE!!! so everything should be a go for Sunday, hopfully the sun will stay out and further dry things out. but even if it is a bit slopy Sams got some really excellent sectionts.

Hope everybody can make it out, it's looking like it's going to be a good day!

03-18-2005, 06:19 PM
Ok, I've finally gotten everything else taken care of. I'll be there. I've even already bought about a half a dozen boxes of Little Debbie snacky cakes to share.

I can't wait. A new year, a new venue, a new bike and a new scab.

Thanks Guys, see you sunday.

BenR, Event starts at noon, 12 O'clock!

Lagerhead, I'm so excited I had to put my BT 5.0 together and already wasted one derailur hanger!

The news is OK weather for Sunday! But remember if things get ugly its no problem because between sections is my house with a walk out basement, with facilitys and all, so we can escape the weather if it got brutal.

Also, If ya alls running HS33's please bring a bleed kit with ya, I have miss placed one of my bleed screw so if we have any misshaps we can get em going again!

Remember, when you pull in park next to the little round top barn, its solid gravel with lots of room in that area.

I honestly think will have atleast a Doz. riders from what I can tell maybe more!

Once again, my cell# 574 536 0176.

Run down to Hudsons. In the shop they have Bryan's old VP pedals on the wall ( broken parts exhibit). You should be able to steal a bolt from there.

sammy
03-19-2005, 01:22 PM
I have a extra set of VP's still in the package! All else fells you can borrow mine.

Dunncan and Roman, are you guys going to make it tomorrow?

im pretty sure roman in still in maryland. i was planning on it but today i snapped off a brake bolt in the frame. its pretty fused in there and only about a quarter inch stub sticking out of the frame. if you know anyone around thats willing to do some machining work on a sunday morning let me know, otherwise i dunno if ill be able to ride. its the top bolt so i might be able to switch over to the evolution mounts if anyone has a set laying around....

BenR
03-19-2005, 02:03 PM
I have a set of evo mounts i could sell to you there for $10.

ilneff
03-19-2005, 02:20 PM
duncan try using a hack saw to cut a flat head screw driver slot in the bolt and then you may be able to back it out.
Come up! I'm sure even if you don't have your bike working we can set you up with a ride.

isaac,
looks like sammy is letting me switch pure frames with him for the day. he said you could probably bring an isis crank puller and isis bb tool that would be really sweet. i left all of my tools at school and am coming from chicago straight there. thanks a lot man.
