I have this on going pain in my tendon on my left ring finger. It is where joint is closest to the hand. I think this happened when i crushed my finger on something when i was ridin one day. I was told that it might just be a bruised tendon and I was wondering is anyone else has had this happen. Also if anyone knows how long it takes to heal because i cant ride till it does and if i try it will never get better. Any input would be good. thanx

isn't your brake lever in the way of your left ring finger? how could u crush it against something?
perhaps going to the doctor or a specialist might help, riding on something injured doesn't usually solve anything

I have this in my middle and ring fingers on both hands, it starts at the base of the finger and extended to the 1st bend (knuckle)

I've had it for a good few months....

my lever doesnt cover it up, it think it happened one time when i had my front wheel on a railing about 4 ft tall and when i came down and twisted, my finger got crushed between the handelbar and the rail. rather painful and this happened about 3 times. i think im just gunna stay off the bike for a week and a half and see how it is. maybe the tendon is just bruised.

I have the same problem, in exactly the same place. It has occoured to me that this is the main finger i hold onto the bar with, maybe that has osmething to do with it? Mine has been hurting for a fair few months, but i'm pretty sure i've never hit it on anything. Hmm....

im hoping that not riding will help it and that it is only bruised. but i am sure that this happened from crushing it and not from just riding.

:ugh: what the fuck kind of levers are you running, 3 finger style too?

It could be just from squeezing too hard, similar to people who get carpal tunnel syndrome in their nerves along the forearm..but if its your tendon I'm not sure. Go to a doctor if it gets worse.

I also suffer from pain on my left hand - but its the pointing finger where it joins the hand! Im very sure I didnt hit it! Its somehow connected to the way I squeese the brake lever. and it doesnt get any worse with time.

a few my friends also have similar tendon problems on some other fingers on their left hand too
I dont know. maybe its the left hand tendon curse when riding trials :-)

I have the same problem when I use thin grips. The tendons in my ring and middle finger ache very much after some time.
Very thick grips, like Oury grips, helped me. No more problems since I got these grips.

I have the same problem in my index fingers on both hands. If its from repetitive stress ie; pulling brake levers, then stretching and excercising them may help. If its from an impact, only time will heal it, so keep it rested.

Oh, one other thing, dont listen to anyone that gives advice on the intrawebs. Go see a physio, or a doctor before you do anything.
