bike feels/riders better. longer stays=bigger gaps. shorter stays=easyer sidehops and rear wheel moves. longer wb=better for slaps hooks wedges ect. shorter wb=bunnyhop tech riding is easyer. higher bb=easyer for uci style riding and hooks slaps ect. not to meny advantages for a low bb.

Short chainstays is what most people want.

low bb gives you alot better balance, especially in wedges.

Nobody really uses a low bb anymore. I think most all of the frames that are out today have a 0 rise BB. Better for all around riding, but the trend in trials now is towards rising BBs. My Tibo is a +20 and it has me all out of whack.
Ed pretty much covered it though.

Pretty much any situation where you're using both wheels, a low BB gives you a more stable platform.

I had a -20mm bb and now I ride a +10 and it has helped my balance on both wheels almost as much as on the rear.

I bet that was the only thing that was different between the two bikes, right? :ugh:

Yes, that is the only aspect I decided to change......
No, The entire frame is different, street to trials. Same parts, I'm just contributing to the bottom bracket conversation. I guess I could have said the plus 30mm bb from my old bike helped, the 420mm chainstays to 385 helped, and the 1055-1090 wheel base probably had alot to do with it as well.
But we were talking about bb....shibby.
about two wheel balance:
I noticed that a stepper headtube (71°, 72°) radically improves -trackstand ie. I also switched from street bike to trials one and noticed that I could trackstand a lot more.
and yes - my previous bike had a 68°,69° headtube. that is better for high speed stability.
lower bb contributes to stability while riding too
