What do you guys think is the best braided hosing available for a magura hs33 brake?

Cheers,

Ali.

havent had much running time on these(winter) but my goodridge lines are pretty solid. very easy to instal...you ll have to get the ss xo line from magura if you want total ss lines.

the 'out of the box' lines work pretty well however I have noticed 0.000354 megadegrees of brake float countermodulation so I might have to change them out because I will never be able to be world champ with 0.000354 megadegrees of brake float countermodulation.

graham I think you may be a decimal point off there. Remember to factor in the square of pi next time for your calculations.

Seriously though, the steel lines are mainly cosmetic for the hs33s. The piston does not generate enough power to worry about your lines flexing. But it does do a little if you run the magura discs.

this is hearsay, as I have not experienced it first hand. My friend in vancouver (freerider) put a goodridge line on his rear hayes disc, and he says he notices more power and modulation than with standard hayes line. I'd say that for a hundred bucks, a hydraulic line better feel friggin fantastic, cause it's almost the price of the brake itself:)

do any of you even know what a braided steel line is supposed to do? Its supposed to keep the brake hose from flexing, thats it! Think of it as a brake booster for your disc brake. Eliminiating flex.

a friend of mine burst his stock lines on his HS-33, and I've heard others say they get their lines caught during bails and ripping them, so they got steel braided lines for those reasons.

I haven't needed steel braided for more strength, but I'm a newb and don't even have a break booster.

The reason for having braided lines isnt to keep the hose flex to a minimum, it's for durability. The steel lines don't break, and if you've ever broken a few of the regular lines, then you know how much it blows. If you never break lines, it isn't worth the cash

I would think that they would allow your brakes to still work if your lines are twisted opposed to the stock ones that might cut flow off if they bend at an angle. I'm guessing with the braided lines the connecting thingamabobers are still pretty weak and still have the chance of being pulled out forcefully. goodridge makes excellent steel braided hydro cables but i dont know if they are available for the hs33.

way back in the days when i rode xc, a friend thought it'd be a marvelous idea to pay 120 a piece of gor-tex cables on his rig claiming it increased the power, consistency, and durability of his xtr v's by 50%... power perhaps, consistency i doubt it; but 50%? i don't think so... and as for durability, i'm sure they would, assuming you dont run housings
back to your question though, a local guy runs goodridge braided hydros on his norco shore and they seem to work pretty well. i asked about them the first time i met him and he claimed they're more durable than the plastic-y housing hs33s come in. but then again he rides a lot of DH and freeride, where things get ripped off and broken all the time. so as for trials it'd be more of a gimick that you really wouldn't need

half the crap in this sport is a gimick.

Hey that's an awesome idea, let's think of some trials and/or bike related gimicks.

-Seems that braided hydraulic housing is rather gimmicky, with hs33
-Nokon housing is pretty gimicky

Anyone think of other stuff that's gimmicky?

Certainly wide bars, flat pedals, wide rims, fat tires are NOT gimmicky ( I would argue)

your gay and dont know what your talknig about. woah man, bit harsh there. Just seeing who thinks what's a gimmic for shits and giggles. Exactly which of my statements required such a reply???

Have you ever tried it?? Yup, I have some, it's really nice stuff. I don't think it makes a world of difference, though. Not when compared to XTR housing sets. When I went from 25" bars to 29" bars, THAT was a huge difference.
