In my saracen mad frame the bb shell is totally wrecked and a bb tool slips when you try to undo it. Is there anyway I can get it out even if I wreck the bb.
Cheers

Hit the shell (except plastic) with a hammer in horizontal direction. It can come out because of the vibration.

If only one side is wrecked loosen the other first. It will help the stuck side a lot. Drown it with WD 40 or something similar. Vibrations will help. See if you can jam a screwdriver or something in it somewhere and hit that with a hammer to loosen. Get a buddy to smack the shell around a bit to help it.
If you can't do it bring it to a very nice shop. All shops will charge around the same, but you want someone who really knows what they are doing.

Grab an issue of August 04 MBUK. Whole 2 pages explaining how. Tip: put the tool in a vice grip and use your frame as a giant lever. Unless of course it is stripped. Then you can use a hacksaw, cut the shell into 3-4 sections and hammer it out with a screwdriver. This is after removing the spindle. All tips from MBUK. Do them a favour and pick up a copy.

Yeah I just had to do it myself tonight. You can knock the spindle off with a hammer so that the cup only remains. (hit the axel with a hammer on the side where the stuck cup is). Then I just used a metal saw to cut away a peice of the cup and then used a hammer to collapse the remains and pull them out... Makes for fun times

Hey Roman,
Which bike did you do this to? Did you finally get a new BB set? I have some awesome news buddy, I'll e-mail it to you.

By the way you will have to re tap the thread after that... (obviously).

is stripped? driveside/nds?
problem is your tool stripped out because you failed to keep adaquete contact.
Try the skewer method. If your trying to loosen the driveside first, good fucken luck. when the nds cup is torqued that same torque is transferred to the DS.
My best method is the skewer+2 32mm wrenches(one pushing down, 1 pulling up), or skewer and 8in pipe wrench. or skewer and an anchored vice
BTW if your bb was installed properly, random tapping wont work....unless you run a freebearing bb.....Be smarter that the bb dont use a hammer, youll create more work after the deed.
let us know how it goes

The skewer is a fine method, provided that the interface is still in tact. However if you have Truvative type interface and the BB is stuck for good you will just shave off the tabs on the cup while the BB tool is firmly pressed into the cup by the skewer. Then only resort is a hammer and a saw.

Holy crap snatch if anyone on this forum can strip the cups on the truvativ has A. torqued the living piss out of it B. wrong type of loktite C.turning the tool in the wroong direction D.using the wrong tool the wrong way
For everyone who doesnt know, remove the NDS cup first!!!

You forgot E. cross threaded the drive side because the cups were switched on the used BB that they used. So trying to loosen it up was just making things a tone worse.

I have got the bb out by putting a bar through the middle of the bb like the skewer idea. But the threads inside the bb shell are stripped

So the method worked, is it ds or nds that is stripped? if it is nds you can order a new cup.
Was your old one plastic or metal?

I had this problem with a five year old factory-installed BB. I can't be arsed posting my solution so here it is, and a few other ideas, from the mtbr forum. My posts are under "tomacropod".

Borrow the tool. buy the tool or get a shop to do it.

If there is no metal left retaping will not help. You will have to take it a machine shop to weld some bead on it and then tap it.
