i have a fairly new king hub, prolly about 15 hours of ride time on it
problem is, the freehub body seems too tight
if the wheel is off the bike and i spin the cassette, the axle moves with it
on the bike, it makes the chain wrap terribly
you guys think sumthin is wrong or does it just need to break in more?

Sounds fine. Adjust your b tension screw on your mech to max.

I have been riding mine for 4 years or so, and have had it rebuilt a few times in the last 4 years and it drags just like yours seems to. I think it is the nature of the hub with trials springs installed. Jim

Theres no such thing as trials springs. Newer hubs have stiffer springs than older hubs. Every single new hub they make now has a stiffer spring. There is only that one spring.
You could try overhauling the King lube on the inside with Tri Flow. They are worse with drag when new. Ride down hills if you haven't. 15 hours of trials is nothing for breaking it in.

Careful how tight you run the QR when it's on the bike... otherwise get a couple 5 allens and adjust the tension of the hub itself.. sounds like it's a bit too tight. Just keep an eye on it while it's breaking in. They have a tendency to come loose here and there.
Sounds like the whole hub is ruined to me. Better off just giving it to someone that rides,..... like say me.w007

I have had this happen on my King hubs, not a big deal at all. Put a 5mm in each side of it and unscrew the axel. The pieces that act like dust caps/races for the bearings need to be backed off just a little bit. Unscrew them from the body of the hub (maybe 1/4 of a turn) and put the hub back together. It is kinda like making a HS adjustment if your HS is binding up, the races are set on the sealed bearings too tight.
Or you could give it to me. Always looking for a new King Hub!

Sorry, when I ordered my hub the bike shop called and specifically asked for it to be a trials setup I know I got a steel free hub body(may not be the proper name for the part) whether you are right about the spring rate I don't know just what I was told.

cost a lot = a lot of problemslol, really...? Despite the fact that my 400$ hub has costed less then the 30 shimano hubs I've seen blow in my neighbour hood.
If your hub is new that is normal, the seals need to wear in, the grease, bearings everything is stiff until you ride it for a couple of weeks. When I first got mine I couldn't back pedal because the chain would just drop inbetween the chain stay due to the stiffness. There is nothing wrong. It's the break in period.
Make sure you tighten the axle every other ride other wise it's going to start skipping and junk.

yea, i keep it tight enough that there is no play and it doesnt skip
when i first built the wheel i think i overtightened the cassette cuz i had alot of trouble getting it off
thats the only reason i was asking

King used to offer a stiffer spring, but that is not the case anymore. From what I had heard, they did not really order two different springs for their hubs. There was some variance in the stiffness of the springs due to a quality control problem. The stiff springs were used for the spring upgrade.
there is a some instructions from CK manual...
axile must be tighten after 10 hr and 2 days of riding...

depends on whether or not you break the standard one. As stated, the seals and bearings need to break in. You can also reset the bearing tension using two 5mm allens, although you will have to do it again when the bearings are seated properly. The adjusting cone should be as tight as you can get it with your fingers, no tools.
