Does anyone know if there are any comps on the east coast around Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, of or North Carolina? I want to do one but i dont want to travel crazy far for my first comp.

I plan on being at this one: http://www.biketrials.com/comp/events/nantahala.shtml

Your probably not too many hours away from Motorama in Harrisburg, PA either.

I'm going to be at the nantahala ride too, it's not but like 30 minutes away from home for me. You could try to find the topic about skills, I think there are two going about comps and when to move up levels. Just go a couple of topics back in beginners section.

Thanx, Andy, for promoting my comp. I appreciate it.

Only1Fuji, the single most important skill a Beginner needs to have is balance. Balance, balance, balance. I cannot stress it enough. If you can ride very slowly, come to a complete stop and get going again on any kind of terrain without dabbing, you will do just fine. Also, learn to hop up and down steps at any an every crazy angle you can think of.

By the way, there is a NATS comp at Big Bear Lake, Hazelton, WV, at the 24 Hours event on 18 June. Keep an eye on http://www.natrials.com/ and http://grannygear.com/ for more info coming soon.
