Charlie, the organizer, seems reluctant to reply. The more people that email him requesting single speeds be allowed in the stock class the better I would imagine. His email is: sclement@kcnet.org

It only knows your tenacity to overcome it. Many single speeders were on hand last year at motorama and suffered a gestapo style bike inspection. Micro-niche labeling seems counterproductive. Should there be three classes?
Seems silly. But do you want to compete with mod guys? I for one only compete against myself and the obstacle at hand, not my fellow riders. This is where the trouble begins as not everyone feels this way, especially after a hefty fee is paid. I will leave it at this...most of the construction volunteers this year at motorama are running single speed. Sport class is our experiment with option lines. The rest will remain true trials.

Hey, thanks for the response! I had just emailed you too..

But still there is no direct/obvious/enlightening answer.. Not too sure what you mean by "Sport class is our experiment with option lines".. How do I feel about single speed runing with mod class? Well, there is usually a difference in mod lines and stock lines, so that's like saying ride with 1 pedal or something..

But anyways, sounds like you're almost not trying to say yes, Pro riders can ride single speed, and leaving that as the underlaying focus..

Either way, see you there, UCI STYLE

Hey All,

Sorry, I was one of the individuals checking bikes last year and pulling people out to fix their bikes (i.e. working gears). Because I like pissing people off?.... hey, I know a number of you..... but the rules were VERY CLEAR. I can not understand arriving at any sporting event with equipment that is not legal.... barring the inability to read.

Having said that......... rules (NATS) this year reflect everyones objection to the silliness/randomness of the gear (and other) rules. Sections can be made to have mix of things favoring mods or stocks.... evening out over the event. I do agree the further micro dividing trials is silly (even as someone who sells the stuff)..... and certainly can't be expanding the sport or innovation in bikes.

I will be at Motorama again.............. 10th time! Whatever difficulties there have been on and off (as with any event that is this big and around this long)..... it is a good time.

Hey Tim, thanks for clearing that up, but I still don't know why everyone is speaking in metaphors...........

if we run single speed, what class are we going to be in.............

it would be nice if someone would just say if we need to have working gears or not.
At this point I'm going to leave my bike as a single speed but I may bring a shifter/cassette/ der... not sure what else to do.... UNESS someone would tell us wether we can run single speed or not.

ya.. i just put brand new grips on. I really dont want to take them off and run the risk of ruining them just to put a shifter on..

NATS rules now say that stock and mod classes are combined and there is no "working gear" requirement. Charlie, the organizer for the MoShow this year, has already told me they will not be combining classes because they do not want to change the format of the competition.

I am still waiting on his reply about what they are going to do concerning "# of working gears". I have been waiting a few days now so it would be nice if he would actually get back to me.

LOL.. Ed, I think I know what happened, my first post must have subliminally asked about the requirement for working gears in croatia.. And Trials online pointed it out for me.. ooooooookay.. sweeeeet, I am not lost anymore.. LMFAO!!

omg dude too funnyy.. lolol..

as of now motoram is not using NATS rules. only because the event was advertised as stock and mod. I am hoping to use another rule system with an amendment to allow singles. I too wait for a final decision from the higher ups. upon which time I will promptly notify all. sorry for the mystery fellas
