ok so i got a set of deore cranks off ebay and they were supposed to be 170mm, well they get here and it turns out that the chainring side is 170mm and the left side is 175mm. then the fuck head that sold them to me wouldnt return my emails. so im fuck with a mixed matched set of cranks. well as luck would have it a friend of mine has a chainring side 170mm deore crank that matches my mine. my ? is could i machine off the chainring bolts and what not to make it look like a non-chainring side crank and use that as my non-chainring side crank. I know this must seem gheto but im trying to make good of a bad situation.
Simple answer, email ebay, get your money back, send the shit cranks back and get some good ones.

You would have to use 2 right pedals. Also, you would want to make sure to loctite the NDS right pedal in so that it didn't work itself loose. Other than that it should work.
Why don't you just run the mismatched cranks until you get something to replace them? It wouldn't throw you off much. Or go to an LBS and get a true NDS left crank?
Yeah...or get your money back from the fucker.

The only thing I could see being a severe problem, other than the screwing...is wouldn't that different length in cranks creative some adverse effect on your body. I know we generally just pedal 1/4 of a rotation durring our trials riding. but riding places, I dont know...I think that would cause problems in your bones or something. Maybe I am mental...does that sound right? I'll quit here.

maybe you will develop a super secret new technique that will make you 122307.1352087 times better than everyone else and then everyone will run mismatched cranks? just an idea.

You may have already done this but I would check around your local bike shops. They often have leftover cranks from customers who damaged one. I once found a left (NDS) 170mm Dotek for $10 that way. Yeah, Dotek. Gotta love that quality.
