I've been hearing about a few competitions coming around not too far from where I live and I had a few questions that i figured some of you could answer. Since ive never competed before i figured id be doing stock beginner or something equivalent, but i didn't know if there was a change to go through the course a few times or places to practice...ive never been to a trials comp so I really dont know how it works. I've been in lots of XC races, so is it kinda like that? any help would be appreciated.

Watch Les Gets qualifying video. This will give you some ideas of what is going on.

You can't pre-ride the courses, but you can get to the contest early enough to check out the routes and see which skill level would be best, but then pre-registration prices are out.

There are always places to warm-up, just don't ride your section. Unlike xc, 1 person rides at a time. You are not going for fastest time, though there is a time limit. You win by geting through the sections with the least amount of dabs(falls). I am sure there will be a beginner course. Go!
I have learned alot from competitions!
