Well i had to change my drive train, so i went to my lbs on my lunch period today and got a chainring, rear cog and freewheel tool. upon getting home i realize that it might be dificult to get that chainring on w/out a crank puller. is there anything i can do to avoid wasting this unusually warm for january riding day (the crank off isint an option)

for small chainrings it can be difficult to get chainrings off without removing the cranks, I can do it with 4-bolt chainrings but not 5-bolt. Just take the crank off if you can't do it, don't cut the chainring or anything silly like that. If your existing one isn't too worn then just live with it until you can get to a crank puller.

well my chain is sanpping once every 10 minutes now so ridding isint worth it, i guess this means more money to spend tomorow
Invest in a crankpuller, they're like 7 dollars and end up saving you alot of money. I suggest that when you need to replace a part get the tool to do it, it's about the same price the shop is going to charge for labor.

really, i thought they were closer to 15-20 maybe thats cause my shop is pricey and only caries park tools though.
My Park crank puller cost only $12 usd.

Maybe...but it works. So I'm happy with my park crank puller. Its not like you pull your cranks off every month.

don't feel bad; I was working at a shop and a guy wanted a new wheel built on his old Bullseye hub. No problem. I started cutting spokes and after I was done I realized he had a freewheel hub instead of a cassette. Duh. So I had to buy him a new hub... and the bossman gave me shit about it forever. Shit happens, eh? Ever put on a chain wrong? Like outside the frame? Yeah... duh. I wondered why the wheel wasn't going on right.

why would it matter if its a cassete hub or a freewheel hub?
