tall guy on a monty

Hello everyone,

I just picked up a used 220 hydra. Its in great shape and I got a good deal on it. The thing is Im about 6'2" and the bike feels soooo short. Is there anything I can do to make it feel a little longer? Maybe a longer stem or something? Im new to mods and reletively new to trials. Should I bother trying to get used to this bike? Is it possible to get used to it at my size?

longer stem or handle bars would help .or a longer frame eg 04 t.pro koxx levelboss

Any suggestions on a longer stem and bars? I just have the stock monty stuff right now. What is the standard length and rise for mod bikes? Is there alot of variation? I really dont want to get a new frame right now so if i could make this bike work for a while that would be great.

I'm 6'4" and rode two mod Monty X-Lites for a couple years. The stems on those things are already pretty dang long, so I don't know if you could find anything longer. You could try wider bars, they will help you feel not so cramped. But there are some really good tall riders on mod bikes, like that 6'5" guy I can't remeber his name. So good luck, the only other thing I can think of has been mentioned, and that's a longer frame.

ok Ill give it a try. Thanks for all the replies, I havent even really given it a chance yet. If I would decide to get a longer frame like an echo team or something would my components transfer over ok?

yup.. they should transfer alright .. only thing that would raise concern would be the width of your rear wheel but I really doubt it'd be an issue.

Like Ross said, there really aren't too many (any?) longer stems available out there. There really is not much you can do (and nothing I can think of) to make it feel longer.

Ween are the shit! I cant afford a stock bike right now, but Ill be getting one in the future maybe next spring. I have an stp that got me started doint trials stuff, so Ill still be riding that. I just found the the monty for a decent price and thought I would try it out.
